The full list of organizations receiving UK harm prevention funding from 2026 to 2028 was published [Wednesday] by the Office of Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), the body charged with commissioning the services.
Approximately £25.4m [$34.1m] was distributed in this round through 33 grants, equating to around 30% of the total raised through the statutory levy, a 1% tax on operator revenue earmarked for prevention, treatment and research.
The remaining 70% meanwhile is being put aside for treatment and research, with the commissioning of these services to be left to the various NHS entities in each UK country and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), respectively.
Grants to well-known gambling charities in this round included £4m for GamCare, custodians of the National Gambling Helpline, £3m for youth-focused group YGAM, and £3m for harms prevention organisation Betknowmore.
