Since the grand opening of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol back in November of 2024, two other casinos have opened in the Commonwealth – in Dansville and Portsmouth.
The way tax revenue is split between these casinos and the Hard Rock in Bristol is leaving some wondering if there’s more on the table.
According to figures from the Virginia Lottery, Bristol Hard Rock has generated $38,704,851 in gaming tax revenue in FY 2025, with $12,901,617 of that going back to what’s called the Regional Improvement Commission (RIC) which is made up of 12 counties and 2 cities in Southwest Virginia. The gaming tax figure is split evenly between the localities.
