After years of clamoring and speculation, a new casino is on the way to the community.

On Dec. 3, Wauzhushk Onigum Nation (Rat Portage) announced that it will be partnering with Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Ltd., which operates across the country as one of Canada’s leading gaming and entertainment companies.

The casino will be built in as a new part of the First Nation’s Golden Eagle Bingo Hall, which is also set for an expansive redesign and renovation process that will see the popular location redeveloped into tip top shape.

“This has been a long time coming,” explained 101.3 The Gap radio station general manager Jake “On the Lake” Gosselin, who was on hand for the big announcement.
