The Trump administration’s termination of Temporary Protected Status for several countries is raising concerns about the future of thousands of workers in Nevada’s hospitality industry, according to advocates and union officials.
Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, allows people from designated countries to live and work legally in the United States for a limited time.
Francis Garcia arrived in the United States from Honduras at age 19, citing violence in her home country. She has lived and worked in the U.S. legally for nearly 30 years under TPS.
TPS for Honduras officially ended in September of last year, though Garcia and other beneficiaries are still challenging the termination in court.
