BetCity has been fined €2.65m [$3.07m] by the Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA) for failing to properly protect young adults from problem gambling.

The investigation into the now Entain-owned operator began after reports of large losses suffered by young adults between October 2021 and March 2023. Entain completed its acquisition of the operator in January 2023.

After an in-depth probe, the regulator ruled the business had failed in its legal obligation to analyze risky behavior and intervene appropriately.

It followed BetCity’s failed attempt to appeal against the decision, which was rejected in August after the KSA found its objection to both the fine and its required disclosure unfounded.
