Supporters are set to rally to promote and highlight the impact a casino will have on Muskegon County as the deadline for the governor’s signature nears.

Community and tribal leaders will host an event Friday, May 20 to voice their support for a proposed $180 million casino in Fruitport Township…

The fate of the casino – a project 12 years in the making – awaits a final signature from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Her deadline to make a decision is June 16, otherwise, the project is dead.

“Our office is continuing to review the proposal ahead of the final deadline,” a spokesperson with the governor’s office wrote MLive/Muskegon Chronicle in an email Thursday.
