Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway said Thursday that federal law enforcement authorities are working with state investigators on a possible crackdown on illegal gambling in the state.

In a House Budget Committee hearing Thursday, Hanaway told the panel the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, the Secret Service and her office are probing the spread of gas station slot machines.

“The feds reached out to me and said that they were working on it and wanted to know what we’re doing about it,” Hanaway said. “They came in and said ‘Here’s what we’re doing, are you doing anything?’ We said, ‘Yes, we are.’ And now we’re working together.”
