A Mississippi man has been convicted of multiple felony charges after a series of fraudulent schemes at the Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood.

38-year-old Shaun Joseph Benward was arrested back in April of 2025 in Mississippi after The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s Special Enforcement Operations Bureau started an investigation on his activities at the casino back in 2018.

Authorities say Benward changed outfits and manipulated staff in order to swindle them out of over $10,000 in improper payouts.

Benward would place a bet on the roulette table and then dispute with the placement of the bet after the outcome is known. A criminal complaint says he did this multiple times across several casinos.
