“The government’s decision will devastate MSIFN’s economy and set back decades of community development efforts,” reads a release.

iGaming Ontario is set to launch on April 4, permitting companies to operate their own gaming and betting websites. This is prompting concerns on Scugog Island, which is home to the Great Blue Heron (GBH) Casino and Hotel.

“In part due to the success of GBH, MSIFN has provided their community – and Durham Region as a whole – with thousands of jobs, and millions of dollars in charitable donations to community organizations throughout the region,” continues the release.
