Minnesota tribal casino seeks resolution to dispute over electric service

The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission is moving forward to take up the request by the Upper Sioux Community to reassign the electric service territory for its Prairie’s Edge Casino Resort from the Minnesota Valley Cooperative Light and Power Association to Xcel Energy.

All four commission members present for Thursday’s meeting on the issue, including Chair Katie Sieben, Hwikwon Ham, John Tuma and Audrey Partridge, voted for a motion to turn the matter over to the Court of Administrative Hearings for an expedited proceeding. Member John Sullivan was not present…

Commission members said they support the Upper Sioux Community’s request for a resolution of the dispute so that the solar array system can be put into service as soon as possible.
