Business owners are counting down the days to the opening of Gun Lake Casino’s new hotel resort.
The expansion started in 2022 as part of what is called “phase 5” for the casino. The 252-room hotel looms 15 stories over the casino.
While crews continue their work, visitors are already making plans, said Terry Cole. He owns Chief Noonday Carpark in neighboring Yankee Springs that offers both storage and services to classic cars. He said clients have already sent up three cars meant to be their summer rides in anticipation of the opening.
“This summer, the owners can fly into Grand Rapids airport, we are a 15-minute drive from the airport. They come here, they stay at the casino. They already got their reservations made. They take their car and tour West Michigan and drive around. It wasn’t even built yet and they were shipping me their cars,” said Cole.
