Almost 250 people packed into the Northern Waters Casino Resort on Tuesday to listen to human trafficking survivor turned Advocate Jessica Kay tell her story.
Kay has traveled across the nation telling her story to raise awareness of trafficking and domestic violence.
She said her experience with social workers made her want to become an advocate.
“I recognized and realized that I was just a stack of paper moving from one desk to another,” Kay said. “And so that’s like where that idea started. And so, then I got my master’s and then I just worked my way up in the social services field and started advocating.”
