Alcohol will be coming to Taunton’s First Light Casino, following the Sept. 12 posting of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s liquor control notice in the federal register.
The liquor control notice takes effect on Oct. 14, according to the posting, after which the tribe can begin serving alcohol in their Taunton casino.
A spokesperson for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe declined to comment.
In July, the city’s License Commission approved a liquor license for the casino. A copy of the license application, which the Gazette obtained through a public records request, described serving alcohol in the casino through “Grab-and-Go Coolers/Refrigerators” as well as “Secure Vending Units.”
