The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s First Light Casino in Taunton can officially begin serving alcohol. According to the Federal Register, the tribe received a liquor control ordinance that went into effect on Tuesday. Customers said they are excited to see the once small casino continue to grow.
“It’s been a long time coming,” said Tracy Gamache from New Bedford. “It will bring in more people and I will be absolutely be having a drink.”
It’s been a slow and steady process for the casino. In January, they started off with 10 slot machines inside a trailer in the parking lot. NBC 10 News was allowed inside in July and tribal members said they expanded to up to 200.
