The advent of online sports betting in the state appears not to have harmed in-person table game and slot revenue because MGM Springfield had the second-best month in its history, taking in $24 million in revenue in March.
The state’s six mobile sports betting operators reported gamblers made a total of $548 million in bets last month, overshadowing in-person betting in the first few weeks after it went live March 10.
The monthly handle, the amount of money wagered, at MGM Springfield’s on-site sportsbook fell in March by about $100,000, from $1.7 million in total bets in February to $1.66 million in March, according to figures released Tuesday by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
