The city of Springfield continues to deal with funding cuts, this time from the state’s Community Mitigation Fund (CMF).

The Community Mitigation Fund aids nearby gambling facilities in the community that may see an increase in traffic or crime. In the fiscal 2025 budget from Governor Maura Healey and the legislature, new funding for CMF is zeroing out.

Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno said he was disappointed, but not surprised with all of the funding cuts recently.
