Macau’s Public Security Police Force said it anticipates between 3.4 million and 3.5 million people will enter and exit Macau via its various checkpoints during the upcoming May Day Golden Week holiday. The figure represents all entry and exit movement, meaning those arriving and those departing, and is not restricted to tourists.
The May Day holiday in mainland China will begin on 1 May and end on 5 May, spanning five days, and is traditionally a peak period for inbound tourism in Macau.
The Public Security Police Force held a press conference on Monday to outline travel arrangements during the Labour Day holiday period, where they issued their traffic forecast and added that they anticipate Saturday 3 May will be the peak day for inbound and outbound travel.
