The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has fired the executive in charge of sports deals for conflict of interest related to the hiring of her ex-husband for a contractor position.

On Tuesday, the agency appointed Lisa Motley’s replacement, Brian Yost, in a new role as chief sports officer.

Despite Yost’s appointment coming just weeks after Motley’s firing, LVCVA President and CEO Steve Hill said the new executive sports position was in the works for some time. Motley held the role of vice president of sports and special events.

Motley was let go by the LVCVA on June 5, after issues arose in the process leading to the hiring of sports marketing firm Position Sports for services tied to the 2027 College Football Playoff national championship game.
