Construction continues on the new $230 million plus Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana in Bossier City with an opening planned for early in the first quarter of 2025.

Northwest Louisiana’s first land-based casino is promising to have the same impact on the region that “Disney World had on Florida.” The question locals are asking is whether Live! will further slice the pie that is now divided by 5 local riverboat casinos, a live horseracing facility with parimutuel wagering and numerous video poker outlets.

The Louisiana Gaming Board’s latest numbers from June 2024 show a dip in revenue at all of the Bossier City casinos. From May until June 2024, Boomtown lost 1.9%, Margaritaville 5.2%, and Horseshoe 36.8%.

Shreveport’s two casinos, Sam’s Town and Bally’s were up for the month, 1.5% and 4.4%, respectively.
