A spokesman for the company confirmed Boyd, who had been serving as co-executive chairman of the board of directors, left his position effective May 4 after not seeking re-election. Marianne Johnson, who had been the other co-executive chairman since 2021, takes on the role full-time.

Meanwhile, Bill Boyd will continue as Chairman Emeritus, though he will not have an actual seat on the board, according to Boyd Gaming’s proxy statement for the year.

Bill Boyd co-founded Boyd Gaming with his father, Sam, in 1975. The company began with the California Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas and has since grown to operate 28 casinos in 10 states.
