Could a horse racing feud among two major horseracing entities prevent people outside of Churchill Downs from betting on the 2026 Kentucky Derby?
It’s possible.
A dispute between Churchill Downs Inc. and a federal horse racing authority could result in the Federal Trade Commission pulling the Derby simulcast — affecting sports betting for this year’s Run for the Roses.
Here’s what to know:
With just under 75 days to go before Derby, the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) filed a complaint against Churchill Downs Inc. that could impact the simulcast of all Churchill Downs-owned properties, which encompasses three tracks in Kentucky and one in Pennsylvania.
