Residents in Ballincollig have been urged to rally once again and say no to a proposal to develop a large casino in the village.
Sinn Féin councillor Joe Lynch who represents Cork City South West reiterated his impassioned plea after an appeal was lodged by Coalquay Leisure Ltd to An Bord Pleanála to overturn a planning refusal issued by City Hall.
The original planning application was rejected by Cork City Council following massive community opposition.
Cllr Lynch said plans for a large casino offer no ‘benefits’ to the community in Ballincollig. “Since the plan to develop a large casino in Ballincollig first emerged, I have been clear in my view that there are no benefits for our community from this proposal – only negatives – and that the people behind this proposal should be sent packing.”
