Construction of the Cedar Crossing Casino is making some progress, with walls now going up at the site located just west of the Cedar River from downtown Cedar Rapids.
The construction began shortly after the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved Linn County’s license application in early February.
Cedar Crossing is set to become Iowa’s 20th state-licensed casino when it opens on New Year’s Eve 2026.
Despite the addition of a new casino, the state’s existing 19 casinos have experienced a decline in total revenue for the third consecutive year. According to fiscal year reports from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, these casinos generated $1.68 billion in revenue from July 1 of last year through June 30 of this year.
