More than a year since breaking ground, construction of the Prairie Flower Casino’s 60,000 square foot expansion in Carter Lake is coming along nicely. Work is only slightly behind schedule.

“What we’ve seen with supply chain issues since the pandemic, generally speaking, it’s not terrible to be a few months behind,” Ponca Tribe of Nebraska spokesman James Centers said.

Originally expected to be ready for a summer 2024 opening, supply chain issues have pushed that to later in the year or early 2025, though “if winter weather holds like it is right now, we could make up some ground,” Centers said.

Visitors to the Carter Lake casino might have noticed over the last year a large steel frame being erected to the east of the existing building.
