Hours before a hearing to gather public comments on the possibility of a casino locating in Allen County, Greater Fort Wayne Inc. announced that an economic impact study highlights the fiscal and employment benefits for such a development.
However, the majority of people who spoke Tuesday to Allen County Council at a hearing it held on the topic at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum said they’re against the idea.
Many raised concerns about potential prostitution and gambling addiction as well as the economic viability of Rising Star Casino in southeastern Indiana, which could be relocated to Allen County if legislation passes the Statehouse. Some would like to see the topic put on November’s ballot as a referendum.
