An Indiana State Rep. from Kosciusko County introduced a bill Monday that could land a casino in Allen County.
State Rep. Craig Snow of Winona Lake authored House Bill 1038, which would open the casino license to a bidding process, rather than move the Rising Star Casino from southern Indiana, where it has struggled to compete with new competition.
Kristen Bissontz, a member of the Coalition for a Better Allen County, said HB 1038 goes against what state lawmakers previously said when they were eyeing New Haven for a casino. She said “this one’s different.”
“Last year was a casino license transfer,” Bissontz said. “This year they’re actually looking to add an additional license.”
