Around a dozen members of the United Auto Workers huddle off S. Lyford Road.

Some hold signs showing the UAW’s logo of people holding hands and forming a wheel; others carry a “Union, Yes” checkbox.

John Mann wields the latter as he waves to passing cars offering honks of support.

“On our own, we fall, but when we’re united we stand together,” held Mann.

The UAW Local 1268 member joined the union’s solidarity rally outside Hard Rock Casino Rockford on Tuesday. Those from the Belvidere-based union arrived in Rockford amidst a choice facing casino employees.

Inside Hard Rock, the National Labor Relations Board oversees an election deciding whether sports book cashiers, dealers and more may join the UAW.
