A new bar and gambling parlor has bought into East Dubuque’s downtown restoration project.
Ms. Hyde’s Hot Slots, located at 198 Sinsinawa Ave, offers traditional bar fare along with six gaming machines.
“We bought the building in May,” said Paula Bodish, a co-owner by night and real estate agent with REMAX Advantage Realty by day. “It’s something we’ve wanted to do. When the opportunity presented itself, we decided to take it.”
After a lengthy wait for a gambling license from the state of Illinois, the location opened Aug. 11. Being located in Illinois allows Mrs. Hyde’s to offer something Iowans don’t normally get.
