Who knew a single guitar, albeit a very large one, could carry so much symbolism?
Making its debut Friday outside the soon-to-open Hard Rock Casino Tejon, the six-story Gibson instantly became a monument not only to the Tejon Indian Tribe, but also to its partnership with Hard Rock International, as well as the region’s economic development.
So said a series of speakers gathered Friday morning in Mettler in front of the 19,000-pound guitar, along with 100 or more local dignitaries, in a festive run-up to Thursday’s grand opening.
After a parade of selfies with a pair of showgirls on hand Friday, but before the event reached its pyrotechnic peak, the event included one solemn moment.
