A St. Petersburg police officer was arrested Tuesday after investigators determined he gave confidential information to a suspect accused of leaving improvised explosive devices inside Tampa’s Seminole Hard Rock Casino last year, authorities said.

Officer Brandon Klaiber, 40, was arrested on two counts of offenses against intellectual property and has been suspended without pay, the St. Petersburg Police Department announced in a news release.

The investigation began late last year after the Florida Department of Law Enforcement notified the police department of “potential criminal violations” involving Klaiber for “sharing protected information from law enforcement databases with one of their suspects,” the release states.
