The world’s fastest moving ball sport of jai alai is making a triumphant return to the fronton at The Casino at Dania Beach. The 2022-23 Dania Beach Invitational Jai-Alai Tournament will feature over 20 of the world’s best players coming from the Basque region of Spain and France.
Dania has the only remaining full-court regulation fronton in the United States. For about 70 years, the South Florida sporting public has been entertained by jai alai that allowed legalized gambling with thousands of fans cheering on the action.
The Dania Beach fronton opened on Dec. 28, 1953, and earlier this year, there was an announcement that the jai alai run in Dania Beach was over, but the demise of the sport proved to be premature.
