Steve Happas has spent most of his career working in the online dating industry, and he’s long realized an obvious truth: The experience for the consumer is usually not great.
“Dating is one of the only verticals where its failure is a success,” he said. “And the journey for the consumer is just terrible. You go on these sites, and there’s a 95 percent chance that you’re not going to have a good outcome.”
Happas notes there is a similarity to another vertical: daily fantasy sports, particularly large contests.
“At the end of the day, daily fantasy is kind of the same,” he said.
