The Dutch Gaming Authority (KSA), in a move aimed at reinforcing responsible gambling practices, has announced plans to conduct inspections at slot machine arcades country-wide. This will begin mid-December. The primary focus of these inspections will be the assessment of the implementation of the duty of care.
Since 1 April 2021, amusement arcades have been subject to an expanded legal duty of care, compelling them to take proactive measures in preventing and mitigating gambling addiction. KSA supervisors will undertake thorough examinations to ensure compliance with the stipulated requirements for addiction prevention during the upcoming audit period.
The KSA emphasises that the objective of these inspections is not punitive but rather geared towards fostering a safer and more responsible gambling environment.
