One Detroit casino is concerned about a permit they say was issued by the Fire Department allowing striking workers to have bonfires while on the picket line, calling the decision “reckless”.
The Detroit Fire Department has reportedly issued a permit for “bonfires and open rubbish fires” to the Detroit Casino Council, according to a statement released by the casino on Nov. 11.
Hollywood Casino at Greektown said there was an “active fire” under their building on Lafayette Street due to the permit, according to the statement. The casino also included a picture of the fire.
“We are incredibly disappointed with the Fire Department’s irresponsible choice to allow the Detroit Casino Council to light bonfires adjacent to our facility,” John Drake, Vice President and General Manager at Hollywood Casino at Greektown, said in the statement.
