Dallas finds itself facing a question of Shakespearean proportions: To be, or not to be prepared for casino development?
It’s a query that the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors (NTCAR) attempted to unpack during a recent luncheon hosted at Brookhaven Country Club. It’s a timely topic given the headlines that have swept the region in the last year-and-a-half: The Adelson Family, which controls casino company Las Vegas Sands, now boasts majority ownership of the Dallas Mavericks. Sands’ leadership is known to be lobbying for legalized gambling in the state. In addition, a proposed Irving development with ties to Sands received widespread attention for its proposal to include a casino (which was eventually removed from the table after residential pushback).
