After 3-1/2 years of preparation, sports betting is now open at Shea’s Pizzeria and Sports Bar. It is the only place east of the Connecticut River besides casinos that people can place bets in person.
Owner Jack Maloney is excited that the day has finally come.
“We’re very excited, it’s been a 3-1/2-year project since we turned the bar inside over to a sports betting bar and it’s been one thing after another with stumbling blocks, but you know, today’s finally happening,” he said.
The retail operation of sports gambling is being provided by a partnership between Sportech and Rush Street Interactive.
