College Township is in negotiations to commission an independent casino impact study, but some residents fear the organization may be biased.
At the township’s most recent meeting, the council voted to enter contract negotiations with Convergence Strategy Group for an impact study on the upcoming Nittany Mall mini casino. Assistant Township Manager Mike Bloom says they recommended the group for several reasons.
“This firm has multiple decades of experience working in the casino and gaming industry,” Bloom said. “They’ve worked for both private and public partners developing casino impact studies.”
Bloom says the township wants to know more about what the casino’s impact would be – both good and bad.
