The Citizen Potawatomi Nation is combating the overdose crisis by launching free Narcan vending machines across Shawnee.
Three free Narcan vending machines will be placed in FireLake Discount Foods, FireLake Entertainment Center, and the Grand Casino Hotel & Resort with the goal of reducing fatal drug overdoses. Each machine will dispense boxes with two doses of Nacan.
“We’ve been working on these machines since last year,” said Chad Stieben, the Tribe’s CPR and first aid instructor. “This project was made possible through a grant we received, and we’re proud to see it come to life.”
Within six weeks of the operation, more than 800 boxes of Narcan have been dispensed.
