The Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs was in the direct path of Saturday night’s tornado that moved East from Downtown Claremore to Pryor. The casino, the racetrack, and the RV park sustained significant damage. Around 140 campers were staying overnight in the RV park.

According to Travis Noland, the director of communications for Cherokee Nation Entertainment, the majority of them were evacuated and taken to a storm shelter ahead of the tornado touching down in Claremore.

Thankfully no severe injuries were reported, but there was significant loss to their properties.

Campers were turned on their sides or upside down, windows were shattered, and belongings were scattered.
