The Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort is celebrating 10 years of business.
December 9 marks 10 years since the Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort opened its doors as the first casino in D’Iberville.
Mayor Rusty Quave said the city faced multiple hurdles to get the casino open. Today, The Scarlet Pearl is one of the biggest sources of revenue in D’Iberville.
“I think the average person on the street doesn’t realize the impact that it has,” Mayor Quave said.
Since opening, the casino has paid $30 million in gaming taxes, with $18 million coming back to the city. This money has helped D’Iberville fund multiple projects and departments.
