Betsson has abandoned plans to re-enter the Dutch iGaming market via acquisition, citing prolonged regulatory delays.

The company confirmed that it has terminated its agreement to acquire Holland Gaming Technology Ltd and Holland Power Gaming B.V. after the Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA) failed to issue a decision by the previously agreed deadline.

The acquisition, originally announced in February 2024, was subject to regulatory approval but failed to progress before the long-stop date. As a result, the transaction will now be unwound.

Holland Gaming Technology and Holland Power Gaming will revert to their previous owners, with Betsson receiving a repayment of €26.7m from the original €27.5m purchase price, reflecting the deduction of a break fee.
