Las Vegas won’t be leveling up with an Atari Hotel after all.

The gaming-inspired resort once slated for the city has been shelved, the company confirmed this week, as the project narrows its focus to Phoenix.

Six years ago, the retro gaming company announced plans to build themed hotels in eight cities, with Las Vegas among the locations. But the COVID-19 pandemic came two months after the announcement to slow planning, and a site was never identified.

Spokesperson Sara Collins said the company “explored developing a location in Las Vegas” in 2020 and 2021 but that “the deal didn’t come to fruition.”
