Alberta is seeking to bolster its coming provincially-regulated online gambling market through newly-introduced regulations that seek to draw private operators currently only allowed to operate in Ontario.

On Wednesday, the provincial government introduced a series of regulatory changes establishing the framework under which gambling companies like BetMGM, FanDuel, or DraftKings could legally accept wagers in Alberta.

The province acknowledges such sites comprise as much as 70 per cent of Alberta’s online gambling market.

Service Alberta Minister Dale Nally said in an interview Tuesday he believes the province represents an attractive market for those companies.
