Brianne Doura-Schawohl Tuesday announced the launch of Doura-Schawohl Consulting, a boutique government relations and gaming consultancy. Located in Reston, Virginia, the firm will specialize in gambling policy, and create connections to drive policy initiatives into legislation, regulation, public health policies, and community action.

“Without a doubt, the pandemic has exacerbated gambling issues, impacting those most at risk of gambling-related harm,” Doura-Schawohl said in a statement. “Federal and state governments have devoted little resources to the research, prevention, and providing treatment to people grappling with gambling problems despite the massive expansion of sports wagering and online betting. This is why I chose to launch Doura-Schawohl Consulting.”

Doura-Schawohl has extensive gaming experience. She was most recently vice president, US Policy and strategic development, for Epic Risk Management. Doura-Schawohl also has worked for the National Council on Problem Gambling as legislative director, and as director of policy and communications for the Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling.

Also, Doura-Schawohl was recently named a Top 100 Lobbyist by the National Institute of Lobbying and Ethics and featured by Global Gaming Business as one of 25 people to watch in 2022.

“I am excited to champion this public health issue under my own shingle and engage with a multitude of stakeholders involved in gaming across the globe,” Doura-Schawohl said.
