Square in the Air, a marketing consultancy for sports and gaming, Tuesday announced that journalist Brett Smiley has joined the company as vice president of U.S. operations. Smiley’s experience includes covering U.S. sports betting and igaming with Sports Handle, which he co-founded with current Square in the Air partner Dan Zucker.
“I’ve known Brett for the past six or seven years and I couldn’t speak highly enough about him,” said Square in the Air Director Ben Cleminson in a statement. “He is a real expert when it comes to the sports betting and igaming landscape, a fantastic writer and has a contact book as deep as they come. We are really excited to see what we can build together.”
Smiley will oversee strategy and delivery for Square in the Air’s North American clients; drive business development; and manage its joint venture, Chalk + Dog, with Boston-based sports marketing agency CTP.
