BetMGM’s sports betting content will soon be available in more markets.
The company announced Tuesday that it reached a multi-year deal as the preferred sports betting partner of Audacy, the new name of Entercom Communications Corp. The agreement will feature integrated content provided by Bet MGM for Audacy’s broadcast sports stations, digital platforms, apps and the BetQL Audio Network.
“In Audacy, we’ve found a long-term strategic partner that shares our goals,” said Matt Prevost, BetMGM’s chief revenue officer, in a statement. “(It enables) us to further amplify BetMGM’s reach to sports fans through the most trusted audio personalities and sports betting data and analytics platform in their respective markets today.”
The deal comes the same day that Audacy announced the name change after 50 years as Entercom, and is retiring its direct-to-consumer platform, radio.com. Audacy also recently acquired sports data and igaming affiliate platform QL Gaming Group and launched the BETQL Audio Network.
“The name Entercom is no longer fit. We’ve outgrown it,” said David Field, chairman, president and CEO of Audacy, Tuesday in an interview. Field added that the name change brings consistency to the company’s business-to-business and business-to-consumer domains in its corporate identify.
Audacy claims to reach more than 170 million customers each month via its app, website, and 235 broadcast stations in 47 markets. Its holdings include WFAN-FM and WFAN-AM in New York, WIP-FM in Philadelphia and WSCR-AM in Chicago. Audacy also serves as the flagship home of 41 professional teams and over 50 Division 1 collegiate programs, including the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys and the University of Michigan.
Audacy’s networks will have access to BetMGM’s sports betting content. BetMGM will have preferred access to Audacy’s talent.
Mike Deal, president of Sports, Audacy, noted the rise of legalized mobile sports betting is providing new opportunities for content for broadcasters.
“In light of our BetQL acquisition and related offerings,” Deal said in a statement, “we believe this commitment is the latest validation that no other media company offers the wide variety of ways to connect with the sports betting audience the way that we do on a multi-platform basis.”
The BetMGM mobile app is currently available in 10 states.
