Barstool Sports continues to expand its digital media empire.
Friday, Streaming television service Sling TV announced the launch of the Barstool Sports Channel, which will feature sports, pop culture and viral highlights.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Barstool Sports to bring the new Barstool Sports Channel to streaming TV audiences across America, giving broader exposure to their highly engaging content and personalities,” said Sling TV President Michael Schwimmer in a statement. “We’re confident that Barstool’s incredibly engaged and loyal audience will embrace the Sling experience, where we continually push the boundaries in streaming live and on-demand TV.”
The Barstool Sports Channel will feature content from the brand’s video podcasts, blogs and video series. Featured shows will include:
- The Pro Football Football Show, with Portnoy, Kayce Smith, and Dan Katz, featuring NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.
- ‘One Bite’ Pizza Reviews, Portnoy’s daily review of the best pies from across the country.
- Call Him Papi with David Ortiz and Jared Carrabis, featuring the three-time World Series champion in conversation with sports and entertainment personalities.
New episodes on the Barstool Sports Channel will be available exclusively on Sling for two weeks before wider release.
“Having our own channel on Sling is another way for Barstool to continue to move the goal post and break barriers in broadcast and streaming,” said Barstool Sports CEO Erika Nardini in a statement. “We are ready to bring both Barstool and Sling’s engaged audiences our content and personalities in time for the college & pro football seasons and much more.”
Sling also will sponsor the Barstool College Football Show with live shows set to stream ahead of games including Washington at Michigan; Wisconsin at Notre Dame; Notre Dame at Virginia Tech; Ohio State at Indiana and Army vs. Navy at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Founded in Boston in 2003 by Dave Portnoy, Barstool struck a partnership with Penn National Gaming in January 2020. Later that year the Barstool Sportsbook was launched in Pennsylvania and is currently also available in Michigan, Illinois, Colorado, Virginia, New Jersey and Indiana.
In July, Barstool became the title sponsor of the Arizona Bowl, with exclusive international broadcasting rights for the college football bowl game.
