The American Gaming Association this week hosted its first Responsible Gaming Leadership Roundtable in Boston, bringing together top regulators, operators, and responsible gaming experts to advance the next generation of responsible gaming initiatives.
The roundtable also spotlighted the AGA’s newest responsible gaming platform, Play Smart from the Start, encouraging players to stay in control, play with purpose, and keep entertainment at the heart of their gaming experience.
“The continued growth and public acceptance of our industry depends on strong collaboration between operators and regulators — in operating responsibly and in communicating effectively with our customers about responsible play,” AGA Senior Vice President of Strategic Communications Joe Maloney said in a statement. “Our work through Play Smart from the Start and beyond will continue to raise the bar for responsibility in gaming, ensuring that when players play with purpose, everyone wins.”
In addition to Maloney, the event featured speakers including:

- DraftKings Chief Responsible Gaming Officer Lori Kalani

- Massachusetts Gaming Commission Director of Research and Responsible Gaming Mark Vander Linden
- Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health Executive Director Marlene Warner
- American Gaming Association Vice President of Government Relations Tres York
“Sound policy is the foundation of effective responsible gaming,” said York. “Today’s roundtable in Massachusetts reinforced how critical it is for state regulators and the legal gaming industry to work hand in hand. By continuing this kind of collaboration, we can ensure responsible gaming policies evolve with the marketplace and reflect the highest standards for protecting players and strengthening the industry.”
The Responsible Gaming Leadership Roundtable is part of the AGA’s ongoing commitment raising responsible gaming nationwide and building a stronger and more sustainable industry for the future.
