The All-In Diversity Project’s third report this year reflects the gaming industry’s response to global trends.
The industry-led non-profit initiative based in the U.K. that focuses on diversity, equality, and inclusion across the betting and gaming industry Monday issued the 2022 All-Index Report on Diversity, Equality & Inclusion (PDF). The report, which covers the extended period 2020-21 to allow for the pandemic’s impact, states that the gambling sector is an effective barometer of emerging global trends, technology and societal changes that impact workplaces.
Key findings:
- The gap between males (56%) and females (43%) in the gaming industry is the largest in five years. The report states this gap is a cause for concern at the entry level when looking at long-term prospects for role models, mentors, and talent pools.
- For the first time the number of individuals identifying as non-binary is significant enough to register as a measurable value.
- Leadership: Women comprise 29% of executive roles and 32% of non-executive roles. The industry is close to achieving 30% female representation at the executive board level, and has surpassed that level in non-executive roles.
- The number of organizations offering paid sick leave dropped from 95.8% in 2019 to 84.4. The number of organizations with flexible work policies increased from 75% in 2019 to 84.4%.
Other findings include the designation “maternity leave” being replaced by “parental leave” and including same-sex couples.
Passive polices are being replaced by active awareness practices. While the number of organizations with equal opportunities and anti-discrimination policies dropped, the number providing practical training and guidance in these areas has risen, with an increased focus on addressing harassment/bullying, challenging behavior/language, and cultural stereotyping.
