FireKeepers Casino Hotel in Battle Creek, Michigan, Monday announced the donation of 2,600 turkeys to food banks in the area. It’s the 14th year in a row that the casino has provided turkeys to five local food banks.
This year, FireKeepers is also donating to the Kendall Street Pantry in Battle Creek.
“At FireKeepers, we view giving back to the community not as an option, but as a responsibility,” said FireKeepers CEO Frank Tecumseh in a statement. “We believe that everyone deserves to enjoy a traditional meal with their loved ones. By donating 2,600 turkeys to area food banks, we hope to bring warmth and togetherness to families in need, ensuring that they can savor the joy of the holiday season. It’s our privilege to make this difference for our community.”
The South Michigan Food Bank in Battle Creek received 1,500 turkeys. Four regional locations have been selected for a donation of 200 turkeys each:
- Community Harvest Food Bank, Fort Wayne, Indiana
- Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank, Comstock Park, Michigan
- Food Gatherers, Ann Arbor, Michigan
- Greater Lansing Food Bank, Lansing, Michigan
The Kendall Street Pantry, owned and funded by FireKeepers Casino Hotel and operated by volunteers including casino staff and management, will receive and additional 300 turkeys on Dec. 11 for the Christmas season.
